Bill Weber

Bill Weber is the pre-race host and play-by-play announcer for NASCAR on NBC and TNT. This is his third season calling the races from the booth. For the previous four years, Weber served as the pre-race host and lead pit reporter for NASCAR on NBC and TNT. He has also called play-by-play for Arena Football League games on NBC, and has covered professional golf including working as a tower announcer on the Champions Tour. The last three years he has served as Emcee for the NASCAR Awards Ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. His duties also include studio anchor for NBC SPORTS. In 2007 Weber will add open-wheel racing and sports car racing to his broadcasting resume.

Weber served as an auto-racing commentator on ESPN and ESPN2 from 1994 through December 2000, primarily as a pit reporter on NASCAR telecasts. Beginning in 1996 he added reporting responsibilities for RPM2Night on ESPN2. He also anchored ESPN's NASCAR 2Day Program. Weber began his career as a sports reporter for WISH-TV in Indianapolis in 1978. He was the assistant sports director at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, Ind. in 1979 and WTVW-TV in Evansville, Ind. in 1980. In 1981 he became the sports director at WEHT-TV in Evansville. In his six years at WEHT, he produced and hosted sports documentaries and handled play-by-play duties of high school and college football and basketball games, in addition to his anchoring duties.

Weber left television in 1987 and served as a media relation's consultant for the Miller Brewing Company in Milwaukee, working on its Unlimited Hydroplane Racing program. In 1989, he joined WIKY-AM-FM in Evansville as the morning sports anchor, where he also called play-by-play of college and high school sports and worked on a radio call-in/talk show. In 1990, he moved to Charlotte as a producer/reporter for Sunbelt Video, a television production company, where he produced, hosted and served as a reporter on a variety of motorsports programming, mostly airing on TNN. A native of Middletown, N.J., Weber received a Bachelor of Science degree in radio and television in 1979 from Butler University in Indianapolis. He was first introduced to big-time auto racing by attending the Indy 500 while a student at Butler.

Bill Weber is a popular public figure that has worked with many well-known companies as a motivational speaker. He mixes personal and professional stories that inspire his guests. He has also worked as a media-training consultant.

Weber is an avid golfer who plays whenever he gets a chance; he dabbles in amateur magic - "mainly just card tricks and some slight of hand," and lists Jimmy Buffet as his favorite musician. Bill and his wife, Teresa, reside in Tarpon Springs, FL., with their three cats, Bert, Stormy and Whiskey.
