Garrett Carter has accomplished a lot for a 19 year old from Royal Oak, Michigan. In the past, Garrett has had to juggle school and racing. Since he graduated with Honors from his local High School in 2007, Garrett can put full attention to his 2008 season.
Garrett is an Athlete with a keen sense of agility and speed. Growing up, Garrett was a talented Hockey player. At the age of 12, defending the net as Goalie for his team, he led them to the Division Championships and was named the MVP.
Garrett's first ride on a road racer was at a school in Shannonville, Ontario at the age of 13. Returning home after his experience, he told his Mother he was going to be a Pro Racer. Garrett never looked back, his determination was fueled by his passion to race, and a career was born. He gave up hockey the next season so he and his Father could concentrate on his road racing career. After a few track days of practice and regional racing, Garrett broke into the motorcycle racing world starting in 2004.

Garrett finished 2004 with two National Championships in both AMA Sports & WERA. He also raced with a small team in England and raced in the prestigious Spanish National Series. His excellent results lead Garrett to a full time race program in the USA and Spain in 2005.

Garrett clinched the dual National Titles in both the 125 GP and the 250 GP classes in the most competitive series in the U.S. in 2005. He also raced in the Dorna owned Spanish CEV Championships. He raced all of the World famous tracks that year at Jerez (2), Valencia (2), Albacete and Catalonia. For his efforts, he captured four National Titles in 2005.
Garrett moved up to the big 600cc bikes for 2006. He raced the National Series WERA with his Yamaha R6. He had six Podium finishes with his 600 in the National Series which included one win. He also started racing in the top National Series, the AMA, in the highly competitive Super Sport and Formula Extreme classes. Out of 10 races entered, he had 8 finishes of 13thor better out of a field of over 40 entrants. Garrett was becoming a top privateer and Yamaha took notice.
2007 was a banner year for Garrett. He competed exclusively in the AMA Series. Garrett retained his privateer status as a solo rider with only a minimum crew for support. However, Yamaha saw potential in Garrett by giving him 2 bikes and a spares package along with factory technical support. The Yamaha support and Garrett's efforts and natural skills started paying off. By the end of 2007, Garrett had finally broken into the top 10 in results in the AMA. Garrett was now considered the most promising rookie in the field.
Suzuki offered Garrett a contract to ride for their factory sponsored Rider Developmental Team for 2008. Garrett will now race a Suzuki GSXR-600 in the Super Sport and Formula Extreme with the respected team, Matsushima Performance Racing. Garrett will race the Super Sport sprint and culminating in the FX class in the world famous Daytona 200 at the Daytona International Speedway on March 6th, 2008.
